Site updated 25th December 2008
Firstly may we welcome you to our very first official website. There are others that claim to be us but we are the real deal. An alternative site can be found http://www.borderrailwaysociety.co.uk/
Who are we?
Funny, we sometimes ask ourselves that!
A majority of us work on the real railways, so there are few surprises there! From Chefs to Drivers, from Track workers to BT Police officers. And there are others, Bus Drivers, Firemen, Unemployed and Retirees. And we all have one thing in common, Model Railways.
Oh and not to forget the new generation, the Kids we don't have many but there are some.
The club started many moons ago, in 1965 long before many of us can remember. We moved to our present premises in 1969. Some of our members have been with us for over 30+ years. Now that is dedication.
We are situated in Carlisle the birthplace of the Caledonian Railway, and to make us feel right at home our clubroom is situated in Carlisle Railway station overlooking platforms 3 and 4 in what used to be the old guards mess room in the days of BR.
We have two layouts here at the club. They are 'Longwaitby' which is our British OO layout, it is not modelled on anywhere specific but is a cracking place to run kettles and diesel trains. And 'Hassel' is our European HO DCC layout. More details on these two layouts can be found on their own dedicated pages.
Many thanks for spending the time to look at our site we do appreciate it, and again if you are interested in visiting us or perhaps you would like to join us then please feel free to drop us an email.
