The Border Railway Society.

To have fun and enjoy all aspects of model railways

What are our club times:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.00 pm

Saturday and Sunday from 2.00 pm

We have 24 hour access but meet subject to a key holder being available.

How serious a modeller do you have to be to join:

The answer to this is simple, you don't have to be! All you have to have is a sense of humour and to enjoy model trains. The club is there for anyone who wants to play trains amongst friends and for those who do not have access to a model railway at home.

Basically, no matter how serious you want to take it is all dependant upon the individual. We have members who love to model and we have members who just love to play trains.

How do you go about joining:

Come along any Monday, Wednesday or Friday evening to our clubrooms opening times are from 8 pm until 10 pm. There is no obligation to join for a few weeks. After that, if you feel you'd like to join in with any of the layout sections, and you think you can cope with club life and even manage to enjoy yourself while doing so!.....all we ask for is your subscription.

Where are we located:

We are located within Carlisle Railway Station and can be found on platform 3. The doorway is located at the top of the ramp/bridge and is accessed via a key code door lock. Please advise us of when you are coming so we can have a member present to meet and greet you. Please note that the station staff have no access to the club room and it is fully secure.

As we are situated in a part of the station that contains stairway access, we must regret that we are unable to grant access to wheelchair users. However we will try to help in any other way we can.

How do we contact you about arranging a visit:

Phone the Secretary on 07533 551793

Who runs the club:

The Club basically runs itself. But to make sure things are done properly for example memberships are banked, we have a committee of 8 who are elected by it's members. Every member has a chance at being elected fairly.

The main committee officers elected for 2008 are:

Chairman - Gordon Ogden

Treasurer - Mark Hurley - Secretary - Tony Graham

What Facilities do we have to offer:

Well besides the layouts we have tea and coffee making facilities, cold drinks and biscuits all for sale at very reasonable prices. Toilets near by and the chance to spot real trains in the comfort and warmth of our club room.
